As a wanderlust-driven artist, the concept for my CMYK screen print piece, "Nostalgia," originates from a deep-seated yearning to encapsulate the essence of each destination I’ve ventured through. My inspiration is drawn from the grandiosity of nature and the unique emotional footprints left by the places I’ve visited. In this work, I’m creating a picture that shows a few of the amazing places I’ve been to. This piece functions as a scrapbook of sorts, combining different landscapes into one big, beautiful scene.
All the photographs used in this piece are my own, taken during my travels. I aim to evoke a sense of wanderlust and reflection in viewers, inviting them to think about their memories of travel and nature. My goal is to foster a visual dialogue between the viewer and the artwork, prompting thoughts about their journeys and the landscapes they’ve encountered.
The process began with digital manipulation in Photoshop, where I intertwined various photographs into a seamless panorama. I carefully selected images with varying textures and hues to ensure a rich, detailed print. Using the CMYK printing process, I aim to achieve depth and realism in the final piece. The image was converted to CMYK layers in Photoshop and then printed onto transparencies. These layers were burnt onto screens, and then each layer was printed onto paper, bringing the image to life.
