ABOUT THE ARTIST

Hi, I’m Mackenzie Klaus—a multidisciplinary artist based in Kansas City, MO.

I grew up in Olathe, Kansas where I started my creative journey at Johnson County Community College. I earned my Associate’s in Fine Arts. I’m currently in the final process of finishing my Bachelor’s in Media, Art, and Design with a certificate in Art Business at the University of Missouri–Kansas City. I am excited to announce that I will be graduating this May 2025. My passion for artistic expression has been a deep and inherent aspect of my life as I grew up with the opportunities to be surround by events such as First Fridays, inspired by the incredible local talent and the energy of the KC art scene. Selling my art and vending in Kansas City has always been a dream of mine

After years of envisioning it, I’ve recently started sharing my work at local markets and connecting with the creative community I’ve long admired. Along the way, I’ve gained hands-on experience in screen printing at a local shop and worked as a homeschool art teacher, both of which deepened my love for the creative process.

Travel has played a huge role in shaping who I am as an artist—exploring new places has fueled my creativity, broadened my perspective, and deeply influenced the surrealist elements, bold colors, and dreamlike themes that appear throughout my work.

Now, I’m focused on vending and commission projects, creating art that blends personal experiences with the movement, memory, and wonder that travel brings. Whether it’s a lino block print, resin jewelry, a hand-screen-printed shirt, or a painting, each piece reflects a part of my story and is made to connect with people who find beauty in the chaos.
